When a Seal Does Not Fit,
the Whole Assembly Is at Risk
A custom silicone seal or gasket may look like a small component, but one small failure can affect installation, sealing performance, production schedules, and after-sales reliability.
Most sealing part problems come from four areas: dimensional deviation, sealing failure, material mismatch, and batch fluctuation.
Dimensional deviation causes poor fit
Even a small size difference can lead to loose fitting, compression gaps, difficult installation, or assembly interference.
Sealing failure creates performance risk
A seal may fit into place, but poor compression, unsuitable structure, or an uneven sealing surface can still cause leakage, dust ingress, moisture problems, or unstable protection.
Material mismatch shortens service life
If the silicone grade, hardness, temperature resistance, or contact compatibility does not match the working environment, the part may deform, age faster, or lose sealing performance.
Batch fluctuation breaks production consistency
An approved sample does not always guarantee stable mass production. Differences in molding, curing, trimming, or inspection control can lead to inconsistent dimensions, appearance, or sealing behavior.

Four Engineering Controls Behind
Reliable Silicone Seals and Gaskets
Pandasoft reduces sealing part risks with measurable engineering controls, from drawing review and material testing to first article inspection and batch quality control.
Dimensional Deviation
Pandasoft uses drawing review, digital calipers, go/no-go gauges, CMM or vision measurement, and first article inspection to verify critical dimensions before mass production.
Sealing Failure
Pandasoft uses compression structure review, groove-fit checking, sample approval, and sealing surface inspection to confirm fit, compression, and sealing contact before bulk production.
Material Mismatch
Pandasoft uses polymer material evaluation, Shore A hardness testing, compression set evaluation, and rubber processing analyzer testing to match silicone grade, hardness, and working conditions.
Batch Fluctuation
Pandasoft uses signed sample approval, IQC, IPQC, AOI inspection, final inspection, and AQL 2.5 / 4.0 standards to keep batch quality consistent.

Purchasing Advice & In-Depth Analysis
Purchasing Cost Logic
Unit price should not be the only factor. Compression molding has lower mold costs and suits projects with annual demand in the thousands. Although LSR molds are expensive, the extremely short cycle time and no need for manual trimming can make the total cost lower than compression molding when annual demand exceeds 50,000-100,000 pieces.
Yield Rate & Material Loss
The biggest issue with compression molding is the uncontrollability of flash, which increases manual trimming cost and defect rate. LSR can achieve a "flash-free" design with very stable yield. Die cutting has a high yield rate, but produces a large amount of sheet offcuts -- purchasing cost may be affected when raw material prices fluctuate significantly.
Performance Trade-off
For extreme environments such as medical devices or precision sensors, LSR offers much better material consistency than solid silicone. If the application is only simple dust sealing, die cutting provides unmatched cost performance. Match the process to the actual performance requirement -- not the other way around.
Choose the Right Process.
Minimize Total Cost of Ownership.
For procurement, die cutting and compression molding are low-cost, medium-yield "cost-effective" solutions -- ideal for straightforward geometries and moderate volumes. LSR and overmolding require much higher upfront mold investment, but their extremely high yield rate and excellent performance deliver a lower total cost of ownership in large-volume, high-precision projects.
